  • Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    Data management and research (40%)

    Making determinations about teaching modality and respond to data-driven student needs
    Create learning outcomes and perform assessment work across the college
    Publish best practices that emerge from school-level strategic research
    Gather, organize, and analyze data for decision-making for all units related to academic affairs, student affairs (including advising), and instructional technology.
    Program new tools for collecting and analyzing data from students, staff, faculty, adjuncts, prospective students, alums, advisors to the school, and other stakeholders and audiences.
    Direct staff across the iSchool on appropriate and creative uses of campus data resources and dashboards


    Data analysis and research for Program Directors (30%)

    Make complex curriculum-related decisions based on research on our school, schools in our field, and accreditation standards for higher education
    Write well-evidenced narratives, interpret statistics, analyze trends to guide academic programs, curriculum design and redesign, and planning.
    Create and sustain curriculum maps for all degree program


    Data analysis and research for Academic Affairs (and Student Affairs) (30%)

    Make complex curriculum-related decisions based on research on our school, schools in our field, and accreditation standards for higher education
    Analyze data from alumni employment outcomes to document employment trends and make recommendations to improve career services and curriculum development.
    Design data collection and conduct assessments analyzing and evaluating how curricular issues such as program design, course content, and course sequencing relate to student success.
    Create, maintain, and refine assessment tools for gathering and analyzing data on learning outcomes for each academic program.
    Write external reports ranging from self-studies for accreditation and program review processes to external reporting requirements for professional organizations


    Other related duties as assigned



    Position Requirements & Qualifications:

    Education
    Required: Master’s in Information Management, Library and Information Science, Higher Education, or a related area. Academic coursework involving data analysis.

    Preferred: PhD completed or in progress, with doctoral-level research involving educational data analysis



    Experience
    Required: Experience with data analysis.

    Preferred: Experience working with data interfaces (XML, web services, REST APIs).



    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    A successful candidate should have:

    Excellent quantitative skills, including the ability to analyze, summarize, and visualize quantitative data.
    Ability to simultaneously managing multiple priorities and projects to meet deadlines.
    Ability to use data to answer questions and solve problems.


    Preferred:

    Knowledge of academic assessment practices and academic data analysis.
    Ability to create, migrate, and otherwise maintain and continuously improve in-house data repositories.
    Knowledge of university and external data reporting requirements.
    Graphic design skills and experience creating reports and data visualizations (using tools such as Tableau).
    Knowledge of data analytics, including one or more statistical methods and packages (such as SPSS).
    SQL proficiency and coding experience with Python, R, or SAS, for data cleaning, manipulation, and querying.
